      Recently, Dr. Ming Kun from the Fish Genetics and Breeding Project Group of the Freshwater Fisheries Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences was the first author.   Researcher Dong Zaijie’s research team has successively carried out basic research on fish body color variation and differentiation under the funding of the National Natural Science Foundation of China Youth Fund, Jiangsu Natural Science Foundation and Jiangsu Talent Fund. Since 2014, research on the body color variation mechanism of red tilapia and its regulatory pathways has been carried out. Three different body color red tilapia skin transcriptomes and microRNA libraries have been constructed and analyzed, and red tilapia has been identified. Melanin synthesis and regulation pathways, and identified two significantly differentially expressed miR-138-5p and miR-722 that may play an important role in regulating body color. Based on the above identified melanin synthesis regulatory pathways, the key regulatory gene slc7a11 was cloned, expressed, localized and RNA interference studied, and it was determined that it plays a role in the formation and differentiation of red tilapia body color through the melanin synthesis pathway At the same time, the α-MSH-Mc1r-Mitf signaling pathway regulates the melanin synthesis of red tilapia. Aiming at the body color variation of red tilapia during the wintering period, the effects of temperature, feed and background color on the apparent body color and melanin synthesis pathway of red tilapia were studied. It was found that the body color variation during the wintering period of red rofei may be the result of changes in the number of skin melanocytes and tyrosinase activity in the body, and it was found that the endocrine system played an important role in the body color variation of red rofei.
